The Collective Sound

The Collective Sound is a non-profit organization that provides youth, ages 12 through 18, with an authentic musical experience in writing, recording and performing through rock, electronic, and popular music as part of its Summer Music Academy and Creative Labs After School Programs.  TCS nurtures tomorrow's music innovators and industry leaders by providing youth from varying socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds with music resources, programs, and environments.

TCS Summer Music Academy...A Rock & Roll Music Camp

For three weeks every summer, youth from around the globe gather to participate in the TCS Summer Music Academy; the world's first ever rock and roll music camp to take its young musicians on tour as part of the Element Youth Movement CoOp Tour.  Operating for over a decade, the program gives students a chance to write, perform, record, shoot music videos, make an EPK, create band artwork, take group lessons, and field trips alongside partners and sponsors from the music industry.

TCS Creative Labs After School Programs

Designed as a supplement to traditional music programs and private instruction, TCS Creative Labs give youth a guided opportunity for creative collaboration in today's contemporary music genre.  Like the TCS Summer Music Academy, students utilize guitar, bass, drums, vocals, keyboards, and electronic music to write, record, perform, film a music video, and create an electronic press kit.

"It seems peculiar that creativity in music has few guided and funded options in mass public space. The ability to develop ideas and share them with the world is an invaluable practice, one that has been provided few spaces in the current education system. It is a valid plight to create a platform for youth to conceptualize and bring to fruition musical ideas. The Collective Sound is founded on the principles of promoting and empowering young musicians to develop confidence in their creative potential and provide them with a skill set that will spill over into other areas of their lives," TCS Founder, Zac Smith.
