Portland - 2010
July 18 - July 30
The Collective Sound will hold its second camp for summer 2010 in Portland, OR. Students will stay in dormitories located on the Concordia University campus, which is located right off Interstate-5 in northeastern Portland. The campus is also easily accessible to Portland Airport (PDX), which is located just three miles away. The city of Portland boasts many events, activities, and is nestled within a beautiful Pacific Northwestern landscape, (Mount Hood can be found just 50 miles away).
Concordia lends itself to many extracurricular activities and locations for field trips, such as: the Portland Art Museum, the Oregon Zoo, the International Rose Test Garden, the Saturday Market, Lloyd Center Ice Rink, and the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). Average climate in Portland during the summertime is slightly mild at 60 degrees, so students are advised to pack appropriately, (please bring a light rain coat). ![]()
Students will practice during week one on the Concordia campus, and will record during week two on campus as well with the help of professional sound engineers. Our Portland camp will not include a third week touring component and will end with a final show on Thursday, July 29th. All parents are invited and encouraged to attend. Students may be picked up immediately following the final show, or may stay one last night in campus dormitories and be picked up no later than FRIDAY, JULY 30th at 3 pm from Concordia University.View Larger Map
**Students may also opt to attend a full five weeks of camp, traveling with TCS staffers from Costa Mesa, CA to Portland, OR for an additional cost. We ask that if your student is interested in this option, please contact us at info@thecollectivesound.com before making travel arrangements, as we would like all traveling campers be on the same flight. We will provide additional details upon request. Thank you.
