Costa Mesa - 2011

The Collective Sound will hold its first camp for summer 2011 largely on the Vanguard University campus located in Costa Mesa, CA. Costa Mesa is located just five miles inland from sunny Newport Beach and five miles west of John Wayne Airport in the heart of Orange County. The campus is located approximately 40 miles from the metropolitan of Los Angeles, and within close proximity to many small venues suitable for open mic performances. Vanguard is also located close to: Back Bay Natural Reserve, Orange County Marketplace, Balboa Island, the beach, various wilderness parks, San Bernadino National Forest, the Orange County Zoo, the Aquarium of the Pacific, and many other places for extracurricular activities and field trips. Average temperature in Costa Mesa is a balmy 75 degrees. 
Students will stay in campus dormitories, and will practice during week one at Vanguard University. During week two, students will record at professional studios located nearby, and during week three, students will to on tour. Tour will consist of traveling the Southern CA coast, stopping to play at outdoor venues along the way from Santa Barbara to San Diego. Our final show will be held on Thursday, July 15th at the historic Yost Theater in downtown Santa Ana and all parents are invited and encouraged to attend. Students may be picked up immediately following the final show, or may stay one last night in campus dormitories and be picked up no later than FRIDAY, JULY 16th at 3 pm from Vanguard University.View Larger Map
**Students may also opt to attend a full six weeks of camp, traveling with TCS staffers from Costa Mesa, CA to Portland, OR for an additional cost. We ask that if your student is interested in this option, please contact us at info@thecollectivesound.com before making travel arrangements, as we would like all traveling campers be on the same flight.
